Seals: Excellent Swimmers and Best Friend of the Eskimos


The seal is an excellent swimmer. Each leg is really a flipper the enables it to move swiftly through the water. The forelegs can be used for movement on land, for with them the seal can pull itself along the ground. There are many kinds of seals. The best-known type is the leopard seal, which has been given this name because of its yellowish spots. Its skin is covered with rough hair that is useless as fur.
